@127 fennec mastalab twidere simple filemanager opencamera

@127

Conversations
Riot
Mastalab
NewPipe
FreeOTP
Delta chat

Red Moon: Screen filter app with separate color temperature, intensity and dim level settings.

f-droid.org/app/com.jmstudios.

Thanks for the recommendations so far!

Lineage OS looks like a stretch right now, but F-Droid is simple to use.

Downloading lots of apps...

Can't get Blokada or DNS66 working. Will have up troubleshoot tomorrow.

Something about can't setup VPN.

@127
Besides the default repository, there are additional alternate repos where you can find more apps. For privacy/security, I recommend The Guardian Project.

guardianproject.info/fdroid/

From them, I like Orbit together with Orfox for super-private TOR browsing.

Izzy On F-Droid is another popular one.

apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/

From Izzy, I get Standard Notes.

Also, from the standard repo, K-9 Mail for your mobile email management.

@127 @angristan twidere to have both twitter gnusocial and or mastodon, adaway (root), afwall+ (root), nextcloud, maps, newpipe

@127 @angristan
Droidshows pour les series, Xposed installer (root) pour le module crappalinks

@127 fennec , FF klar, adaway (si rooté), K9 MAIL, mastalab, newpipe :Wink:

@127 additionally to what was mentioned so far: tusky, markor, antenna pod

Adaway, DNS66, and Blokada seem to do similar things.

Adaway looks like least expensive (battery, CPU) option. Am I right?

I see that Adaway needs root access so that's out for me right now.

@127
There's a series of apps called "Simple-something" (like, simple-clock) ... Thing I like is the launcher, and that the apps ask for no extra permissions ... Very lightweight but has all it needs to have

@127
RadioDroid - internet radio. My favorite station is Swiss public domain radio classical (they also have jazz.) Also good for BBC radio and various public radio stations in the US
OsmAnd - open source map. You can download and use the maps offline. I use it way more than Google maps

@127
I also like pedometer in Fdroid. It's simple. Always runs in the background but is light on resources. No gps or data collection.

@127 afwall when you do have a rooted phone its perfect to disable Internet+network access for some apps. #afwall

Maybe #riot (matrix) and or #conversations(xmpp) for messaging

#newpipe a really nice youtube client which also offers Download!

#tusky as Mastodon Client

#yalp store to download apps from #googleplaystore without a google account

#osmand for worldwide free offline #navigation

I guess i do not have to mention that all those Apps are Open Source ..

@Kohlrabe
Osmand is awesome. Thank you!

@127 i do not have google maps installed anymore ;) osmand works quite well except that the internal search sometimes does not find adresses. #osmand #nogoogle #opensource #gps #navigation #free #improvedbyusers
