It is usable but buggy. By on a shared server, do you mean that your blog is hosted in a subfolder on your site? If that's the case, you'll need a web server rewrite that points webfinger requests to the site root to the URL in the folder regardless of which plugin you use - webfinger requests are only valid at the <site root>/.well-known path
@jdormit ya, that's an issue probably all wp blogs on shared servers will save. The web Server is not in my hands and I don't have sudo rights obviously.
