Twitter will remove inactive accounts and free up usernames in December https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/26/20984328/twitter-removing-inactive-accounts-usernames-available-date
@angristan We could free up usernames of deleted accounts no problem, deleting inactive accounts would require an e-mail campaign though 😬
@Gargron right! I'm okay with it though
@angristan too early imo
@tho too early? There are tons of 2+ years old dead accounts
@angristan twitter doing it after 10+ years. 2 years is nothing
@tho they will delete the accounts that have been inactive for 6 months, so the actual age of the platform doesn't matter
@angristan what are the reasons? Freeing usernames? Reducing operational costs?
Can identify spoofing be prevented? Good thing is that this isn't email, so it isn't a big concern. Perhaps there should be a publicly accessible page to show account creation date and username date and count?
Should accounts of dead people be maintained?
Just some thoughts.
