Google now blocks GApps on uncertified devices, but lets custom ROM users be whitelisted https://www.xda-developers.com/google-blocks-gapps-uncertified-devices-custom-rom-whitelist/
@angristan OK, so I thought they would've made it harder to re-enable a phone, it's as easy as going to https://www.google.com/android/uncertified and sending the ID. But it's... interesting, to say the least.
@angristan
New slogan. Be just a little bit evil.
@angristan It's nice to see they at least keep sort of an "open" channel for custom ROMs, yet this is everything but nice...
@angristan I have really mixed feelings about this. I guess I'm glad they are keeping it open for people to side load gapps after changing ROMs, as removing that ability would spell pain for ROM scene. On the other hand, part of me wishes something would drive more people to to gapp-less (whether through microg or just running without Google services)
@angristan Here's a joke.
Google.
