RT @doniveson@twitter.com: The role cities play in building our nation is clear and mandated by voters. The recent news of interference in the #yyz election by the Ontario gov is alarming & flies in the face of local democracy: theglobeandmail.com/business/c #CDNmuni #CDNpoli #onpoli #yegcc 🇨🇦

Choose life. Choose a motherboard. Choose an OS. Choose an ergonomic mouse. Choose a fucking big desk. Choose loud speakers, social media and chat protocols, clients, and platforms. Choose good snacks, low in trans fat, and good key switches. Choose a high-density SSD. Choose a good chassis. Choose your friends. Choose a gamer chair and comfortable pyjamas. Choose a keyboard from Newegg n-key rollover purchase in a range of fucking colours. Choose shitposting and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that chair watching mind-numbing spirit-crushing YouTube videos, stuffing fucking takeaways into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, weighing 600 pounds and not having seen the sun in 3 months. Choose your future.

Choose life.

But why would I want to do a thing like that?

Did you know that you don't need to use link shorteners (bit.ly, etc.) on Mastodon? All links, no matter how long, only count for 23 characters against your 500 limit!

(And since link shorteners are bad for user experience and break the web, there's almost no good reason to use 'em! 😄)

Friendly reminder: this isn't Twitter.

If you're mad about something? Use a content warning.

If you want to write a long post? Use a content warning.

Don't share screenshots of toots that make you mad, and don't follow people that make you mad.

You've left the swirling fire vortex of rage birdsite created to keep investors and advertisers happy. Live free! Live well 👍

Update: my wife bought me a spare dongle for $10, so that’s good, and I borrowed a 2TB drive from the office, and am now in the process of backing everything up to it before wiping the failing partition and copying everything back over.

This time I’m going to use APFS (*ding*) instead of HFS+.

Regarding that FURBY.ASM source code, I, uh

um

(halp)

(by which I mean, boosts and pull requests gratefully accepted)

In retrospect I should have added a “yet” to that. Empathy and communication skills can (and should) be learned!

So, let's start this off with a sub-toot 😉:

If you can't tell the difference between disagreeing with colleagues and shitting all over their work, perhaps your conversations shouldn't be posted publicly for everyone in the world to read…

@eevee Are you on/have you heard of Micro.blog? It’s like a federated Twitter, but with a paid hosting option…

It's always a little sad when you try to help someone make things better, and they swear at you and storm off (virtually speaking, that is). 🙁

There are more people using Mastodon today than any IRC network. Just think about /that/ one.
