@codewiz I'm definitely guilty of using あなた too much at Japanese conversation groups. Yeah, it is kind of weird that あなた is both extremely distant and used for a wife talking to her husband.

@jeeves This partially explains all the rituals with the business cards at work and rounds of self-introductions in social meetups.

You have to show that you're making an effort to memorize the names of the people around you.

@jeeves I fail at memorizing names pretty badly.
