I have a long way to go to reach the rank of Elite Exobiologist, and it seems like a huge grind...
All right, they also revamped the planetary generation system and added a few new planet types, including this peanut butter jelly planet I just landed on.
And this one which I have never seen in game (stock photo from r/EliteDangerous).
This one apparently has two very distinct colors because it's tidally locked to its star.
I guess I don't have to play the grinding game. I don't care about credits, medals and ranks.
I just want to explore the galaxy and photograph the most spectacular places I land on.
More beautiful planetary landscapes from #EliteDangerous Odyssey:

"One year on, Odyssey still misunderstands what made Elite Dangerous great"
@codewiz The grind in #EliteDangerous is too tedious. I'm interested in the lore, exploration and discovery. It is an amazing game. I was playing in #VR, but dropped the Rift with FB's demand of an account. I will probably get back into #VR with a headset that works on Linux, especially now that #GPU prices are dropping.
@lsitongia I have a Valve Index and it works great on Linux. E:D also works great on Linux with Proton, but I never tried it in VR.
Anyway, playing in VR with the keyboard is a bit hard, and text is harder to read. I will revisit when I get a better GPU...
