Hey peeps, can anybody recommend an music player with:

* robust playlist support - if at all possible, can read .m3u playlists and handle the top level folder or two being different (see next toot)
* support for as many file formats as possible
* POPM support (storing star ratings in mp3 files) (not mandatory but nice to have)

Or just anything that integrates well with player.

@deutrino did you try the one in f-droid? Is there more than one these days?

@jeffcliff there are tons of Android music players. Needing replaygain support eliminates like 2/3 of them right out of the gate. :(

@deutrino key words "in f-droid". Are you using google play to install said apps or something?

@jeffcliff yes, I have not divorced Google for anything but email and it's not happening anytime soon unfortunately.

@deutrino DO NOT USE SOFTWARE THAT DOES NOT COME WITH SOURCE CODE. STOP USING GOOGLE PLAY TO INSTALL THINGS. #unsafesoftware

So what I mean by that playlist thing is, let's say I generate .m3u playlists on my desktop and they point to files thusly:

./foo/bar/Music/Artist/Album/song.mp3

I want an Android media player that is smart enough that I can say "ignore ./foo/bar/ in that playlist, everything lives here instead on my phone" and have it Just Work.

@deutrino I like play.google.com/store/apps/det . Supports a ton of formats, is meaningfully customizable, has ReplayGain, and even supports USB DACs. Good dev.

@bb010g Definitely taking a closer look at this, thank you.
