It looks like, as of today, coales.co ... which literally runs off a couple of old servers bolted to the ceiling of the garage in my back yard ... will have better uptime than all of Facebook for 2021 :blobthinkingcool:

these days I understand why I'm a Process maximalist when it comes to developing any piece of non-trivial software: my neurobiology kinda mandates it, or else no software is going to get developed.

I also now understand that this strategy and certain other work-doing strategies don't mesh well.

for example, it's unlikely that a team with too many process minimalists, ronin coders, and/or chaos dependers is going to be a good fit for me, and that is very unlikely to ever change.

imagine working on a team where people bring both willingness AND shared basic understanding to the task of collaborating effectively with the assistance of Process

This makes it trivially easy to share data between programs, and to manipulate Obsidian's "vault" by directly tweaking those files with external programs.
In that spirit, I've released the scripts I use to automate [...]

"Examining btrfs, Linux’s perpetually half-finished filesystem" by Jim Salter arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/0

Interesting deep-dive. I only dabble as a hobbyist sysadmin, so I'm glad this isn't something I ever tinkered with.

I finally deleted my google account :blobdab:

I’ve had this account for well over 10 years and had everything there. When I became more privacy-aware I deleted a lot of stuff from it and migrated to other services but I was finally able to delete it for good :blobcat:

I’m happy and relieved!

you know you live in a certain sort of political area when an offhand comment on the city subreddit about how police unions need to be brought to heel and reminded of their place gets gilded and is near +100 in about two hours.
