...how many alts do you need?

@Canageek The first account I made, no longer used. instance was too busy. @Canageek This instance is shutting down. @Canageek Was my main while @chr was being a bit sketchy, but it was really quite and he apologized so I came back. currently my main.

And this one for RPGs now that weapons Vs AC is going away @ekimekim

fair enough. I mainly just wanted to be funny by listing them all together.

@Canageek @ekimekim Right now your Cybre account is the one I most often want to ping, and it's the hardest to find in an @ search.

@ekimekim @DialMforMara Oh. that is annoying and I'm sorry about that. I guess I could delete the Octagon one and the weapon versus ac-1 should go away on its own pretty soon.

@Canageek @ekimekim I'm still seeing "RPG Canageek" in the four suggestions but not "Cybre Canageek." You may still have to delete an account to make that work.

@DialMforMara @Canageek @ekimekim I think it is sorting them alphabetically, so cYber was coming after cAna

@DialMforMara @ekimekim It doesn't show up at all? Not even as RPG Canageek?

@Canageek it does, but I have to search for "RPG", not "canageek"

@DialMforMara Ok, now they show up in the right order for me, is this any better?

@DialMforMara The order seems to very depending on what account I message myself from? Is this one at the top yet?

Is there some standard mastodon way to migrate an identity? eg. "I, foo@bar, am now baz@abc. Please update all follows to match and make the old url a redirect."

@ekimekim You can put a note in the profile of your old account that you've moved, and there's a way to export and import your following list

@DialMforMara yeah, I was thinking more about people who follow me. A profile isn't a very discoverable way to get them to migrate, and toots won't always be seen by all.

@ekimekim I recommend a transitional period where you boost new-account toots from the old account. @cassolotl did this recently.

Not a bad idea, but I still feel like this is a problem that could be solved by the protocol, instead of by humans on top of it.

@ekimekim @DialMforMara They're working on it. The next version (coming soon) has a way to flag your account as migrated, which adds a prominent link to the new profile, and hides the follow button.

No automatic redirection yet, but maybe in the future.

It's been a highly requested feature since masto began.
