@DialMforMara a quick google says that most adblockers can't be used on iOS due to apple's restrictions on how browsers work, however the Brave browser (which is a modified chrome with adblock built in) should work.

sexism in legacy-system jargon

@DialMforMara there's a similar issue in a lot of distributed systems language with "masters and slaves", though there's been a mostly successful push to replace it with "leaders and followers" or "primaries and secondaries".

@Hubbe yes, and it's the worst. now you have no idea where the bugs are.

@starlitghost I just had a mental image of you sitting in some office slowly and carefully writing out a 4096-bit RSA signature, in tiny digits to fit into the space provided

@natecull I'm sure it works perfectly well for its goal, which is to increase "articles read" counters in the site's tracking, which in turn increases its value to advertisers.
Being actually useful for your users is barely related to website design anymore.

@Antitonic I'd say that's something to explicitly ask your GM if that's something they'd like to do. I think most GMs would be happy to.

And another one showing my latest Tee KO shirt. This one resonated with me in ways I find hard to articulate. The box is a reference to HPBraincase's brain case logo - the shirt was made during his 24h stream.

Trying to get less scared of / better at taking / sharing photos of myself. So here goes.
Also, dyed my hair recently so wanted to see if I could get a good picture of how it's holding up.

@DialMforMara I'm watching HP boil rosehips and avoid wolves. (he's playing the Long Dark new-and-improved story mode)

We're about to go live on HPBraincase's 4th anniversary 24h stream, featuring a whole cast of friends including yours truly.
These streams are always a blast, so come hang out!

@DialMforMara yeah, that's always the problem trying to get set up on windows. It's really not the "designed for" environment.

@DialMforMara @Canageek I'd say try to pip install it, if it works then great, if it doesn't immediately just work then give up and try going to 32-bit.

@Canageek @DialMforMara One would hope. But the mere fact the 64-bit verison isn't the default means there probably isn't.

@DialMforMara If there's no NTLK 64-bit version, yes.
Except you probably don't NEED to uninstall the 64-bit python, they should be able to coexist. Probably safer though.

@DialMforMara Ugh, I think it's referring to 32-bit vs 64-bit. The thing you're trying to install is a 32-bit application but you installed the 64-bit version of python.

I have no idea why 32-bit things still exist.

Oh! There was an interesting thing on TV the other day about how Bletchley Park's efforts to break the enigma machine were aided in part by some government agents seeing of a marine biologist's paperwork that he specialized in the study of cryptogams and misreading that as cryptograms brought him on sight and explained what was going on before discovering their mistake.
"I see. Very interesting. So why do you need someone who studies oceanic microbiology?"
"What?"
"That's what I do."
"Oops."

@LilFluff That's probably a lesson on diversity of backgrounds on a team and how unrelated skills can be useful, but it's also just a super cool story, thank you!
