Disingenuous in the extreme:
"A Government with a new mandate could negotiate a better deal for Britain and secure support for it in Parliament and in the country."
No, it couldn't. EU already stated Withdrawal Agreement cannot be changed.
This is the worst kind of electioneering.
I could accept Labour's postion if it was a sincerely held belief. It is not. The following is a statement from *Labour* only 3 weeks ago:
"The EU has been very clear there are no more negotiations, clarifications or meetings. Theresa May will be bringing back the same deal she pulled last week. This is intolerable, she is simply playing for time"
There has been some polling showing 70% plus Leave support in some Labour constituencies. However, how will supporting Leave affect their votes elsewhere & the young vote?
Labour have said they want out of Single Market but stay in Customs Union. That was last week, so they might have changed position again.
I'd prefer all parties to be a bit more idealogical, at least I'd know what they stood for.
@fitheach I sort of understand why they want a general election - but I reckon it's far from certain they'd win it. Then what do they do?
As things stand at the moment Labour are behind in the polls and Corbyn personally is miles behind in approval ratings.
I suppose Labour think things might change during a campaign, but I am doubtful it would work to their advantage this time.
The real problem is Labour aren't proposing anything radically different from the Tories.
