Lebanese cucumbers and pie pumpkins? They sound exotic. Pretty certain I've never come across either of them.
I was thinking of carrots. When I grow them they aren't much thicker than my fingers, but they sure are tasty. Some supermarket bought carrots are about the size of cucumers, but taste of nothing.

Ah, indeed, but do the purple ones taste any different? There was a craze for purple carrots a few years ago. I never bought any, so I don't know if they are different. They would certainly look different on your plate.
@fitheach I think it's just the colour. I've had some local ones that were mostly orange, but had some purple and they tasted the same to me.
