Good suggestion, but it won't work. There is already a nearby fence and about thirty trees around the tank. Over a period of months, eventually one or more deer will choose to scratch on the water pipe and posts. I could try fencing-off the pipe run, but that would be a lot of work. I'm thinking about piling up large stones around the posts to make it too awkward for the deer to access them.
