I looked at Rolling Rhino Remix, an unofficial Ubuntu rolling release. 🥴 After at least 5 minutes of waiting for the installer to do more than start, it got to the language/keyboard thing. Then it scanned for drives. 3 or 4 minutes later, and still no drives found (I have 7), I killed the install, deleted the ISO and reformatted the USB stick.

It's happened. The new modem is in place, and the speed is 3 to 4 Mbps quicker than with the other one. Now to check things out.
These emojis can be used in all sorts of places, not just online. 👍
It seems Gnome's text editor has the same feature. Other text editors may too.
I finally found a way to use emojis beside usernames here. Took me long enough. Pluma, a Linux text editor, has a nice feature when one right-clicks in a text file. Right-click on an empty text file, and at the bottom of the choice box, pick "Insert emoji". The selection is similar to here and elsewhere. Pick an emoji, copy and paste it into an empty text file, and save it, without an extension, naming it appropriately. I have them in a directory called, of all things, emojis.
Tougher than usual.

It seems I picked a "winner" as far as opticians go. I got voicemail about an appointment that I never made for today (Saturday). I was there 3 weeks ago for the eye exam and choosing frames. I got the glasses about 10 days later.
I guess I'll be looking elsewhere for an optometrist and getting glasses online, for a fraction of the cost. 🤓
Really hard, for me anyway.

It arrived. I made the call to the ISP to let them know it's here. Now I wait for the swap request to go through. When I lose the Internet, I know it's time to swap modems.
The guy I talked to was asking me if I had VoIP service. I told him I did. He says it's the best quality he's ever heard. Usually there's a bit of an echo or delay. He thought I was with Telus. Not bloody likely.
The funny thing about the modem was that it was originally supposed to be delivered this coming Monday. Then it was Tuesday. Then Monday again. Now it's today. I thought it might be today. Maybe I'm psychic. 🤷♂️
Success!!! 🕺 I used Debian's own installer, but it was being a bit pissy in that it wanted to install onto the USB stick. WRONG! I moved 1 SSD to another USB port and things went according to plan. So, now I get to set it up.
I also see that the modem is supposed to be delivered via Canada Post today. With this luck, I'll look forward to winning the lottery tonight. 🙃
It turned out to be a partition resizer for NTFS, which none of the drives associated with this computer have. Oh well.
