Here is an interesting project working on NextStep like desktop. I love WindowMaker and has high hopes for GNUStep. The author states that this is a personal project with no broader goals, but haven't a lot of successful open source projects started that way?

Here's my new portable computer. The case was finally printed successfully so I was able to make sure all the electronics actually fit. The cables need a lot of wrangling so I might look for some shorter ones. The list of components is on my blog:
This was a fun custom deck to make. I'm happy to have a sturdy little computer with a mechanical keyboard that I can take with me.
I just wanted to mention The Fantasy Trip RPG once more before the Kickstarter ends in a couple of days. TFT was one of the early RPGs, first out in 1980! It has been out of print for 35 years and is now being re-released through a Kickstarter campaign. At the $25 backer level you get the complete game as a Print-n-Play PDF.

The Fantasy Trip : Melee & Wizard
Finally, after decades of being out of print, I can finally but a copy of Melee. I ordered the Ogre Pocket edition the years ago and love it. I have been looking for a copy of Melee for a while. Even better, a simple fighting game and be expanded into a full fledged RPG. So excited!

So #fediverse : I have been out of the #selfhost scene for a while. Decided to setup an old mac mini (5,2) with linux and run #dokuwiki, #syncthing, #wallabag, and #gitea on it.
What is a good #RSS aggregator that works with a lot of different Android and Linux clients? (I really miss Google Reader.)
Just an update on #my3words for 2018.
So far I am 0/3.
* I don't feel any more compassionate, although I do try to be considerate and conscious of others and their needs.
* The only thing I have created is more chaos in my life.
* And I haven't learned anything significant.
Something I’d forgotten in my brief wandering away from here is how much this brings me stuff I do not see anywhere else.
I don’t draw. I don’t fantasy. I don’t tech. I scarcely queer. In fact I barely understand what’s going on around me here most days.
But I experience no boredom with it at all. I feel like I get to listen in on new things all the time.
Something about community makes us hear from one another better.
Just an average, ordinary person. I enjoy technology, FLOSS, board games, mountain biking, kayaking, rugby, and reading. Oh, and beer. And whiskey.
