When my friends said "Nice to meet you!" to foreigner, he was told that the phrase isn't used in the present era. Is it really?

@mayuutann well, I might say it. I’m a little old fashioned but I exist!

@clew I see! Thank you very much!! 😀

@clew @mayuutann I would probably say "pleased to meet you" but then, I'm old.

@mayuutann LOL they must have been fucking with y'all.
That phrase is used all the time,
it's not antiquated. (I'm a native English speaker.)

@stalememes Oh! Really!! Thank you very much!! 😀

@mayuutann The phrase is still used, but mostly in formal or business setting.

If you meet someone you look up to or admire, or if you are in a business meeting, you should say "It's nice to meet you" or "Pleased to meet you"

@mayuutann you usually only say "nice to meet you" the first time you meet someone.

If someone is your friend, then you have probably already met them!

(Unless they're an online friend, then you might still say it the first time you meet offline ☺)

@kepstin Oh, ok! I got it!! Thank you very much!! 😀

@mayuutann now people greet each other with "cofe", it's an established fact
