Not sure on the technicals behind this, but I feel like there should be an easy migration path between instances. A process such that your followers are automatically following the new account and your previous posts are migrated.
Would need some checks to prevent abuse (type password again, email verification, probably others). Wouldn't want to make it easy to steal accounts.
Headed out to watch the Oakland A's get things back on track against the Angels tonight.
