@switchingsocial @Blender PeerTube looks really great, but so far watching HD video has been slow on every instance. I also wonder if the issue of exposing IP addresses can possibly be addressed
it’s still in its infancy, but I’d love to start following some content creators if I find any

the biggest concern is that of privacy, so I’m happy to see there’s some discussion going on. it’s such a great idea overall so I’m really excited to see it go forward

Have you tried watching the Blender instance at @blender ?
(At least for me, the Blender instance seems to work pretty well. But yes, some instances are very jerky.)
There is still a lot of work to do on PeerTube (hence their crowdfunding https://www.kisskissbankbank.com/en/projects/peertube-a-free-and-federated-video-platform ) but the Blender instance seems to work well enough to provide a real alternative to YT,
