Because it's object oriented, similar to C++ and i think Python, too. So when you know Java it's easy to also learn other object oriented languages, too. Also it's pretty versatile and in 2019 still the 3rd most popular language. But i do want to learn other programming languages. I'm just starting with Java. Eventually want to learn Python, too.
I don't know. I'm not really up tp date concerning the IT industry. I merely studied computer science with a very heavy focus on theoretical cs. Now i want to get some practice with programming languages.
