These days I'm mainly using @bremner, because cool domain names are the chrome and tailfins on the 21st century. Also the local timeline on a smaller instance seems like it has more chance of being interesting. We'll see.

uploaded at 1920x1440, rescaled to 1280 x960. I'm not really sure what the algorithm is, but I can live with 1280x960

Hmm. It's not as bad as I thought. At least full screening the browser allows viewing at relatively large size. Let's see if I can figure out what if any resizing happens on upload.

Not sure yet about mastodon as a sharing medium. Not that the parent shot is all that great, but downsizing doesn't help. That's something I miss about is relatively painless sharing of high-ish resolution (say 1920x1080) photos. I guess the economics of hosting a bunch of heavy media are maybe tricky. Linking to flicker seems to miss the point a bit.

"... this fixes a compile error on Android ..." I had no idea compiling on was possible, and still not sure why you want to run a full text database of your email on your phone, but cool.

Obviously.

So, uh, I'm new to this timeline thing, but isn't it kindof mandatory top-posting? It seems like I'm always reading things backwards. I tell you, in my day on usenet we would have never stood for this!

I hope it doesn't annoy people too much that I reply to French or German toots in English. I'm not being an imperialist, honest, it's just a combination of laziness and shyness.

150K people sounds like a lot, but I just spotted somebody I know (and wasn't looking for or already following) scrolling by in the federated feed.

TFW when you swap in a complete new set of test data, and the tests still pass. Happyspicious!

Had a great conversation about running a Women in STEM conference at my university ๐Ÿ’ป

I'm super excited to make that happen in the next academic year!

A not-quite-as-minimalist dragon I made a few months ago. It's a little more origami-ish (aside from the wings, it's also just one piece of paper) which I didn't think I could manage in 1:60 scale.
