Dear Ruby devs and game devs. I have a crazy announcement I want to share. Please boost.
Last week I released A Dark Room to the Nintendo Switch. Within the game, I also shipped a Ruby interpreter and a code editor as an Easter Egg.
*This Easter Egg effectively turns every consumer spec-ed Nintendo Switch into a Ruby Machine.*
1. Download A Dark Room from the US/EU.
2. Connect a USB keyboard and press the “~” key.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions.
Oh my goodness I've just learned a thing about The Matrix that causes it to make a lot more sense: In the original script the humans were used as neural network compute clusters by the Machines and as a crucial component of The Matrix itself.
Which is why humans who were aware of the simulation could control aspects of The Matrix - their minds were part of its foundation.
Unfortunately the test audiences had trouble understanding this concept so the studio changed the human role to "batteries".
Lemmy is apparently a federated Reddit alternative using ActivityPub written in Rust https://github.com/dessalines/lemmy
And so we enter the #fediverse. Support for all instances is coming soon. We're just waiting on more of the Keybase community to update to the latest versions so all of these new proof options will look good in the UI. Thanks for your excitement!
@[email protected] I'm looking for alternatives to popular todo-apps as wunderlist will shut down someday. Would you be interested in adding a section? todo.txt seems to be the most obvious choice, pairing well with nextcloud or syncthing and supporting many platforms.
Since seeing this comic a long time ago it has really changed the way I interact with the world around me, I now say "Thank you" rather than "sorry".
I stopped apologising for existing and for taking up space as a result I have stopped minimising myself.
@devurandom bus factor -1: someone would need to be hit by a bus to resolve the organizational deadlock on the project
@godotengine Can I get a boost?
Looking for hobbyist game devs who use Godot to join our community: The League of Leisurely Ludological Independent Pursuits of Passion (Lollipop). Here is our mission statement: https://www.pyremonk.com/lollipop/

Rich Hickey is onstage demoing a lisp dev setup
his hacking gets more and more intense. he's jacked into a production server; he starts redefining functions on the fly, inspecting data as it flows thru functions
the audience is shocked and horrified but he continues typing, oblivious. an error occurs and he recovers from it in the repl
finally he sees their stunned silence
"guess you aren't ready for that yet" he responds impishly
"but your kids are gonna love it"
TIL that Mattermost has described themselves, on their own website, as “Cool enough for Uber, Secure enough for the US Army” and “rated as a Cool Place To Work by Gartner”, and OMG could somebody go to Mattermost HQ and tell them that this isn’t stuff you put on your website, this is stuff you whisper to yourself alone in the darkness while you try to choose between whiskey and valium.
