Funkwhale, podcasts/channels, dev thread, UI

5 days later, where are we?

Well, just published a round of updates to the creators UI (still not merged, but it's going smoothly, so I expect a merge this week) 🎉

All of this is detailed at governance.funkwhale.audio/d/p, but basically:

- Better error handling during uploader
- Show processing progress once the "published" button is clicked
- Display the user quota in the upload modal
- Better attachment input (as designed by @mjourdan)
- Ability to create albums/series through the UI
- Ability to attach uploads to albums/series
- display track cover if any
- Added position field in metadata form
- Delete track through UI (go to track detail and click "more…") (@stef)
- Delete album through UI (go to track detail and click "more…") (@stef)
- Truncate/line break channel name when it's too long
- User-friendly urls for channel and RSS feed (/channels/mychannel instead of /channel/longrandomstring) (@stef)
- Fixed wording/missing update button when updating upload metadata (@unklebonehead)

I've also attached a video below in case you want to see how it renders in the UI.

Just watched #TheGreatHack on #Netflix. What I appreciated about this #documentary on #Facebook and the whole #CambridgeAnalytica scandal, is that it's one of the few #privacy #documentaries to get that protecting personal data isn't just about not seeing personalized ads for stuff you're more likely to want. It's about protecting ourselves from mass psychological manipulation and behavior modification techniques. These are techniques that actually work *best* when people believe they don't.

Israeli espionage firm hacks WhatsApp. Can install spyware with missed call.

theguardian.com/technology/201

My advice: dump WhatsApp today and start using Wire (wire.com/en/products/personal-). Tell your friends and family to do the same. (It’s a simple, free download on all app stores. Easy to use, doesn’t require your phone number, and their business model is based on charging for commercial use and for pro accounts.)

ar.al/2019/04/01/indie-web-ser

I am really excited about this one. To launch a secure, live static site run this on any VPS that has a domain name pointing to it and Node.js installed:

npm i -g @ind.ie/web-server && web-server --live
