Phillip Island, Australia now belongs to the penguins. The first time the family visited the island years ago, there were still human residents. In another visit a few years later, most were gone. In a final act, the old visitor centre is to be demolished to free up more breeding space for the penguins.

@sohkamyung It's funny that I hear about this from a person in Singapore, via a link to the New York Times, while living here in Australia. ;-)

Mind you, Victoria is > 2,000km away, and while I have visited Philip Is to see the penguins, it's was 1999 and dark.
