Hello! here's my #introduction: I like synthwave and industrial music, I like lore and worldbuilding and I like to code and draw. I am trans and a bit depressed as a result, an outlet wouldn't hurt, hope that's okay with y'all
Don't think I'll lose anything anyway, that instance was filled with people who didn't even try the greatest feature. Plus too much people overall.
The point of having a flagship instance with open registrations was to demonstrate the possibilities of Mastodon and to offer a quick entry point when the software was still new.
We no longer need that.
I'm really thinking mastodon.social should close new inscriptions for good.
Not because it's a bad instance, but because it's still used by too many people as the default entry point into the Fediverse. Also, with every now users, the human and financial cost of maintaining it keeps growing and it really takes a toll on the project's resources.
Watched Cyberpunk '77 gameplay demo. Game sure looks beautiful and detailed. A lot of shooting with RPG stuff sprinkled over. Don't really know where the cyberpunk themes play into this, but of course that's just a gameplay demo so can't judge the lore and the overall message. But if I just have to judge the gameplay, all I could think about was "yawn, another FPS, I am too damn old for this shit".
I'd love to be proven wrong. In fact watch me quote this a year later saying "lol goty".
Wait until everyone on Mastodon dot social discovers:
1. a significant amount of us can't even read what they're saying in that bubble
2. we support sex-workers
3. the federated timeline is different for each server/instance
4. there are over 3,000 active instances. dot social is just 1 of them
5. there are 210,500 users on dot social >> there 1.5 Million who use Mastodon
6. when dot social grinds to a halt through massive use spikes, the rest of the instances are not affected.

Masto is on HN again. Most of the top-level comments are negative. It'll never work, it has to do this, it has to do that, look at that critical flaw in the software.
HN does this with nearly any new software that's trying to improve something that already exists. I used to get this sort of responses too when I announced on HN some new thing about GNU #Octave. It was really disheartening to hear an endless stream of how it would never work and how I was wasting my time.
depression, call for help
I'd like to get help regarding my depression, would any of y'all happen to know some online support groups?
Somewhere I can see people talking about it, and relate maybe. Something like an IRC chan or a discord, French or English, doesn't matter at this point.
boosts are appreciated
