now can someone teach me to shade and draw some kind of texture please :blobdab:

I just realized that because "pinta" means "surface" in Finnish, and is kind of similar to the Spanish word for "to paint", it makes for the perfect hostname for a Surface tablet :blobthinkingsmirk:

Typically it's lit up as a pretty boring plain white or blue, but some days they change it to other patterns like flags, or today, a rainbow.

Kirjastosilta/Biblioteksbron (the Library Bridge) is rainbow-colored today :blobrainbow:

The postal workers' strike in Finland continues because Posti hasn't come to any agreement with them yet.

Other unions have now joined in solidarity strikes, which means: mail is not handled at any airports, anything transported by Posti will not be handled at grocery stores, all cargo transport on the railways will stop for 24 hours tomorrow, Finnish cargo and passenger ships will remain in their harbor next week, and no local buses will run in the entire Helsinki area next Monday.

The demolition of this building brings out old advertisement texts on the side of the neighboring building.

Trying to fill out a form yesterday, the "first name" field told me "please type 4 characters or more".

Sure, let me just change my name real quick 🙃

I was just browsing through old stuff, and noticed this @gnome pamphlet fromm FOSDEM 2017 seems to be missing large chunks of text. I wonder what happened 🤔

It's a bit unintuitive how a free-for-all wiki-style map could have more accurate data than a curated one that accepts suggestions, but the data just speaks for itself. Google Maps has a nonsensical name for my hometown's railway station despite attempts to fix it by sending a suggestion (they just reject it), while OpenStreetMap has always been more correct and also more detailed on this place.

this one is also worth watching (even if you don't know the language), made in a single take: youtube.com/watch?v=_J3ewiYdm6

zdnet called Chromium an "open source Chrome clone" lmao

I'm listening to music on my phone

Firefox suddenly resurrects itself in the background, and some random open tab throws up a "now playing" media notification in the notification area

Spotify pauses because another media player is now playing media!

Android instantly goes "oh, you're not listening to Spotify anymore? Great, let me just kill the app and remove its notification right now"

Where did we go wrong as a species

Uhm, didn't see that coming (totally did):

The Wire messenger changed ownership in July, didn't really notify anyone as per their own privacy policy, and now belongs to a US entity called "Wire Group Holdings":

zefix.ch/de/search/entity/list

Not sure how I feel about that (totally do).

The Finns party said in the news that the postal workers' strike is because of immigrants, and that taxpayers are footing the bill, because of course they said that. Yet again, more cartoon-like bullshit that does not belong in the real world.

First of all, Posti's workers are not paid using tax money. They're a private company. Secondly, what does immigration have to do with workers' rights?
