Arch is a fine OS but I really wouldn't use it on servers unless you live dangerously
@norm Debian is a fine OS but I really wouldn't use it on a development machine where I need the latest version of everything.
@wolf480pl @norm I use Debian (Stable) for development (well, actually porting from Windows at the moment)
@wolf480pl @norm I actively try to avoid relying on the latest version of everything, or things that are likely to change quickly. Also try to minimise dependencies in general.
I imagine if you are writing web-facing stuff you'll need a different stance for security updates, though.
