Mastodon is a refreshingly nice place. It feels like the beginning of the Internet, when the norm was that people are nice to one another.
It would be interesting to find out why it is so.
Unfortunately, I am afraid that the reason is simply that the reason is simply that the place is still relatively new so that a social hierarchy between members has not been established yet.
@andrestmaur if the social hierarchy between members really happens in the future, it might be the doomsday imo. i hope that wouldn't happen, and people here are still being nice to each other in 2046.
@andrestmaur oh yeah, it's 'when' because it's a matter of time. i apparently don't know how to solve the issue and i don't know someone graduated from social science department either. let's just think simply, what are the cause(s) of social hierarchy?
Evolution? Like, top pickers get better reproductive success?
Social hierarchy is quite common amongst animals.

I don't know. Probably people who will have the most followers, no?
@andrestmaur i don't think so. but if that's the case, i don't think the people who have less followers will have no power either.
Not "if", "when". It is a fact of human interaction.
Instead of wishing for it not to happen, we should study how to handle the problem. But I have no idea. Maybe have the system act differently dependent on the number of followers? Where is a social science graduate when you need one?
