I've been driving a Renault Trafic van. It has been a mostly enjoyable experience, except for a few niggles.

One such niggle is the split-view wing mirrors. Whose dumb idea was that? The mirrors are split into two sections. The top section, comprising 2/3 of the area, give normal magnification. The lower section gives a magnified view. This arrangement makes reversing more difficult. For example, when reversing into lined bays, the line is shown with a kink because of the magnification.

I'm sure the vehicle designers thought split-view mirrors were a good idea, but, did they check them in the real world?

In the past, I've often looked askance at some people's lack of reversing skills, particularly in lined bays. Next time, I'll check what kind of mirrors they have, before tut-tutting and shaking my head. 😃

News coming soon as to why I've been driving about in a Renault Trafic van.

@fitheach in my mind nothing replaces decent large mirrors. My Navara has them and despite the size it's one of the easiest vehicles to reverse into tight spots. And that's without sensors and cameras.

@fedops
Absolutely agree. A single large mirror is all that is required. Although, parking sensors or rear-view cameras are handy when there is a post in the blind spot.

@pesekcuy
Yes, that's the proper side for the steering wheel. 😃
