Yes! #Chekhov was a brilliant author, but however excellent, it is a shame the plays get all the attention. I always thought his most impressive talents were in his stories, and particularly the ultra-short stories. His ability to set a mood and an atmosphere in 10 pages with almost entirely dialog is unparalleled in anything I have read, at least.
Pro tip: He was an immensely bored country doctor. Keep an eye out for those in his stories.
