A "fly" species I'd never seen before landed in the kitchen sink. I saved it by placing a piece of paper underneath, and a glass on top. I then released the fly by carefully placing it on the sill of an open window. The insect proceeded to fly in the neighbouring window, and landed in a pan of boiling water.

Any "slaters" (woodlice) coming into the house have a huge mortality rate. Recently, I left an empty mop bucket by the back door. Within a week, or so, there were 20 dead slaters inside. They had fallen inside, and couldn't climb out.
